Body kits
Has anybody had any experiance with body kits. Just looking at the differant one's, like the saleen for 2400, the roush for 2000, have'nt found any shelby kits on the net. What does it do to the value. I know without the conversion from the dealers, it just a mod. I know roush has a warning on their web, about buying one without the roush serial numbers But this would be for my own ego. so is it worth the time and the money to do this. would it be frowned on at car shows etc.

Terry (Slimer) has a Shelby body kit on his car.
You can find it in the catalog on their site.

http://shelbyperformanceparts.com/

There are quite a few of us who have tailored their own cars to their own personality/likes.  As far as value, it is valuable to the person who owns it. I have a Shelby GT Clone that I gathered the correct parts to and built my own as did a fellow Limer Charles.

Don't worry about "copying" what someone else has done. Each person's car is as individual as the next guys. Your car may have options that another person does not have. Just get what you want that makes you happy.  Make it yours!

There are a lot of body kits you can consider:
Roush, Saleen, Shelby, RKSports to name a few.

Ck out

You can simulate different looks on your car.

nothing wrong with taking a bit from here and there. mine is a mixed bag of Shelby, Saleen, Roush... like previously said, make it your own.

if youre really set on a certain body kit, here are some brands that are good quality and popular:

Cervini, Razzi, Street Scene, Cruizin Concepts, Xenon, 3D Carbon, etc.

heres a good site to see some of them if they dont appear on the ponybuilder site that Russ posted.

2006 Legend Lime - H281C -
K&N CAI - O/R X-Pipe - 40 Series Flowmasters - Eibach Pro-kit - MRT rear louvers - American Muscle blackout panel - Cervini window scoops - 19'' Saleens - painted hood and spoiler - visor appliques by Jadeuel - Shelby black billet grille - GT500 rear spoiler - American Muscle mirror covers

Only thing you would need is the Saleen Hood to add to the kit.

Not to complicate things for you, but Roush offers a complete "painted" kit for $2680. All you need is the exhaust for $731.

i have looked at the roush, i have the, cdc shaker, looks very close to the saleen super shaker, only without the s/c. been to many web sites, way to many choices. getting down to the roush or saleen. looks like the shelby, requires a lot work and extra factory parts. have to further look, into the shelby. its probably the most popular.

Another site I know of that sells parts, free shipping, has complete body kits and stuff is Stage3motorsports.com  not sure how their prices are compared to other places though.

As far as people thinking your a "copycat", from what I read the hardcore roush, shelby, saleen people dont care as long as you arent trying to pass it off as an actual Roush, Shelby, Saleen, etc.

yes stage3motorsports is a very good source, priced about the same. thats where i found the saleen stuff, and americanmuscle, i visit their site almost daily, spent a lot of money there, very happy with all.
It will never pass as a saleen, shelby or roush, the mods i have done i will keep, so it will be a hybird.
appriciate the advise, did'nt want to make my car, whats it not, but want to do shows, without a guilt complex.just call me a idiot, just getting my independance back after losing my wife to breast cancer, a little over a year ago.

The trick is to get a mental image of what you want your car to look like.
From there, check out all the aftermarket industry and see what they have in order to get close to your mental image as you can.

I went with the retro look while mixing modern features like 20" wheels etc...

In other words, a plan is the key...

Stage 3 is where I got some replacement parts while learning the limits of clearance and where curbs are hiding. The folks there have always been helpful and friendly. Most of the body kits and parts they have in stock and ship quickly. If not they drop ship direct from manufacturer.Very good Co. and the free shipping of these parts is a GOOD thing. for instance a front bumper cover ships in a box larger than some fridges. these parts shipping is figured on cubic volume rather than weight and can get costly.

Make it look the way you like it and you will be happy. Others can digest their opinion of it and pass it later.

I put a roush front bumper on mine. I haven't found side skirts or a rear bumper that I really liked yet. Or liked enough to spend the cash on. The thing with the saleen or roush bumpers is that is sayz saleen or roush across them. I can't bring myself to put one of those on just because of that. People can tell I added the front bumper so not to many people ask about it. I wouldn't want people to ask hey is that a real saleen/roush or hay look at this saleen, and then explain naaaaaa its just a body kit. Just my 2 cents

Pascal and Glenn you both hit my problem. retro is why i bought it, and i don't want a name on it thats it's not. So i found at stage 3, they have roush 427r body kit, thats the front bumper and valance, that the grill stays the same. it also includes, rockers and scoop 1/4 window covers. already have part of that. tail end has no mods, and it does not say roush. So I'm probably going with that. Then work on 427hp and change the r to a p. Think i have a plan. thanks for all your advise.

seems like a good price at stage 3. Paint shouldn't cost you too much. I'll guess around 600.00
here's a pic of mine I didn't go with the chin spoiler

oh I see now add 700 for paint. You might be able so save a few bucks locally. I was quoted 300 to paint my front bumper.

I like yours, its looks great. Looking at yours on here, helped me decide to go with the cdc shaker. I really like the saleen, may find an 05 or 06, thats in need of repair, and make a saleen clone. Be a nice retirement project.
