Cold Air Intake
I'd like to eventually install a cold air intake on my '06 V6.  I have to drive a mile on a dirt road to get to my house.  Will this effect the intake performance?

I would definitely get one with a washable filter and stay on top of it...and you will end up saving money in the long run. Not too mention a slight performance gain.

The K&N cold air intake has a washable filter. I highly recomend it. Slight performance upgrade (7hp at the rear wheels) and slightly better fuel economy. No tune needed.

is that what K&N claims for the V6, 7HP?...without the tune?...

i would like to get the CAI, but the better ones need a tune...would the cost justify the gain, plus i might have to put in premium....

I have the K&N (and a tune) and i really love it!!  Even before the tune, it did seem to wake the car up a bit.  I only put in premium, because the car is tuned to premium.

I put in a drop-in K&N and noticed about 3 mpg gain, and I drive it like a sports car. I drilled about 15 3/8 holes in the bottom of the stock intake and when I get on it you can hear the whistle of air being sucked in, I love to turn off the radio and hear the horses..

most of the incoming air is pretty clean unless your following someone down that dusty road. I would suggest calling tillman speed for a intake and tune. It will be 10x better than just going with a drop in filter.
