Mustang Felby
Here is a fake Shelby GT500
They didn't even bother to swap out the stock Mustang GT wheels.

There is a Ford parts salesman on another forum that has identified every part you need to do this conversion.  I think you will be seeing alot of these.  Different strokes.

This one is real.

This is nothing unusual that you can go out and basically build your own Shelby. Some of us aren't lucky enough to be able to own a real Shelby, Roush, Saleen, etc..... (IF I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten a Roush instead of a plain GT) So I am working on building his own Roush. My ONLY problem with this fake Shelby is that they didn't complete the transformation. LUV the color though.

I see you are thinking of getting the wife that birthday present.

Also if it did not require the new front fascia I like the hood.

I wouldn't pay the price they're asking for a GT 500 right now.  For what you get for your money, a straight up GT with all the mods you want is a better deal.

The GT500 does have a lot of nice goodies that fall right into the retro theme and, as others stated, they're available for purchase.  It's like a buffet of parts for me. :D

Had 3K down on one, since March 05.
Fast forward to April 06.
Pricing was available...$40,390 MSRP was the bare minimum..."Stripped down GT 500",
no added options.
Plus the dealer 15k "Firm" mark up.

$55,390...NO THANKS...they could keep it.

May 06...trashed the GT 500 idea, opted for another 06 GT...27K and some change.
June 06...3K check from the dealership.

I know once all the hotrod boys get done buying the first  Shelby's there will be enough for the rest of use to buy one. We will have to wait a few years though but by then they will have added a few refinements. It would be nice to have an '09 with the '69 styling- hips and all. I think C1 would even let me get one then (just kidding dear).

LLR 0174 1 of 6157 Legend Limes made in 2006 and one of only 2 from the factory setup the same. Somewhere there's a twin. Well maybe no longer a true twin.

Mod it slowly...................Make it a long term hobby....Don't rush... your Mustang may be in between where you headed but once you run out of things to mod......you will tire of it.....you will trade it.......and the dealer will not give you the price of a normal trade in for one that is not modified. Then the process starts all over again.  It is still fun..but costly but you are happy doing it. Now if I can only get rid of that gut wrenching feeling waiting for my next mod to come in the mail that would be nice.

You're right man.
One of the good thing about heavy modding is that you have one of a kind car.

The hardest thing to reproduce of the GT500 is the 5.4 S/C.

I would love to see a fake LL GT500 with a carbureted stroker.   Maybe I'll do that...

Remember, there are clones everywhere and all years. It might hurt other cars, but the mustang just gets stronger. (eleanor clones Roush Saleen, etc.) Heck I even turned mine into a GT350 clone!
